Bukta – E.R. Buck & Sons

E.R. Buck & Sons was founded in 1879, mainly producing shorts for soldiers fighting in the Boer Wars. BUKTA Clothing hold bragging rights as the original sportswear brand. Initially providing a key role in military clothing production, it wasn’t long before BUKTA progressed into the Sportswear arena. In 1884 production began on the first kits for Nottingham Forest Football Club. With this, the foundations for a long lasting affiliation to Sports and recreation was born.

By 1937 the BUKTA brand was one of the most prominent sports and team wear manufacturers in the world and the FA Cup Final of this year saw BUKTA act as the official kit supplier to the finalists.

In 1938 the factory in Poynton was closed and the company moved to a factory at Brinksway, Stockport. Members of the Buck family ran the company until 1982 when a consortium led by Sir Hugh Fraser purchased it. By the 1960’s BUKTA supplied kit to more sporting teams than any other brand.
